From the analysis by Andrea Beretta Zanoni, professor of business administration at the University of Verona, it results that even before the pandemic the alarm bells were already sounding for the foundry sector. The uncertainty caused by expensive raw materials exposes to the risk of shrinking investments and the lockdown-related reduction in demand worsen further the situation. Even though we cannot generalize given that the foundry sector as whole is a extremely composite and various segment, overall Italian manufacturing came out of 2020 in pretty good shape because is joined to global supply chains which have solid foundation and have withstood the pandemic.
